Über Stichting Gouda bij Kaarslicht

Sinds 1956 ontvangt de gemeente Gouda een kerstboom van haar zustergemeente Kongsberg en worden de lichtjes in deze boom feestelijk ontstoken. Sinds 1958, het jaar dat de Koninklijke Stearine Kaarsenfabriek Gouda (het huidige Bolsius) 100 jaar bestond, wordt het stadhuis verlicht met kaarsen van deze kaarsenfabriek. In al deze jaren is het evenement uitgegroeid tot een cultureel evenement dat voor de stad Gouda de start van de kerstperiode inluidt en dat door bezoekers uit Gouda en ook ver daarbuiten wordt bezocht.
De Stichting Gouda bij Kaarslicht organiseert jaarlijks in opdracht van de gemeente in de maand december een 1-daags cultureel evenement in de stad Gouda, waarbij in kerstsfeer diverse activiteiten worden ondernomen rond het feestelijk aanlichten van de kerstboom naar jarenlange traditie.
Since 1956, the municipality of Gouda has received a Christmas tree from its sister municipality Kongsberg and the lights in this tree are festively lit. Every year, commissioned by the municipality, the Gouda by Candlelight Foundation organizes a 1-day cultural event in the city of Gouda in December, during which various activities are undertaken in a Christmas atmosphere around the festive lighting of the Christmas tree in accordance with years of tradition.
